I have a small selection of sculptures at Curatorial&Co created during the lockdown in Sydney in 2021 within Diana Millers solo painting show.
COLLAGE
Sydney has gone into a lockdown again but I am grateful to have been able to work from home the past few weeks.
I’ve been spending the time fulfilling commissions and developing new work partly off the back of utilising silkscreen offcuts and found paper elements I’ve collected over the past few years.
The small assemblages have taken on their own lives and interact with one another with colour and composition play.
I’m enjoying with the dynamics and weights between them and interested as to how these will develop further.
Some of these are available via the stockroom with 25% donated to charity.
RAVENSWOOD Art Prize
SAFE KEEPING.
I’m very honoured to be amongst an inspiring group of artists as a finalist in the Ravenswood Art Prize 2021 .
The past year has been one of drawing my family and friends through a computer screen rather than from life with the digital connection adding another layer to not only my process but also to our relationships creating a new intimacy and care for each remarkable character in my life. The remnants of raw planning are left visible, notes of what was intended but was suddenly left open rather than filled. It is a layered and visceral celebration of relationships and touch, movement, shadows and colour. Interlocking shapes are pulled from life drawings and portraits and used as a repeated graphic motif to rebuild abstracted bodies as a glitching connected mass - every one nuanced and flawed, lightly held together but always ready to fall away.
Mixed media on linen, 200x160cm.
ArtAid
I’m really happy to be a part of ARTAID, an art driven social enterprise by Authority Creative.

2021.5 - Installation Collaboration with Tom Fereday
A sculpture and printed fabric collaboration with Tom Fereday, Industrial Designer. Presented at AltMaterial 2021 exhibition in Melbourne hosted by The National Gallery, Victoria for Melbourne Design Week.
The solid wooden sculpture was carved with a linear grid repeat representing my diary inputs from the start of Covid, depicting the digital influence over our new physicality - screen glitches, genome sequencing, barcodes, QR codes and a gently fading repetition and permanent stain.
At 150cm high - the social distance length in Australia- and 100kg in weight, the sculpture was used as a rolling press to print a linen length with wood stain by turning it by hand, having the only smallest inkling (and hopes) of how we could control the outcome and how it would print with just one coating of wood stain.
SYDNEY CONTEMPORARY 2019
I’m proud to have shown a new development of sculptural works and unique state silkscreen prints with Curatorial&Co Gallery at Sydney Contemporary Art Fair 2019.
Extrapolated from life drawings and portraits, this body of work holds together as a document of friendships interacting and overlapping, casting influence over surrounding areas.
SILKSCREEN PRINTS
Curatorial and Co have a new selection of Black and White silkscreen prints available developing on from the themes of my solo show where the works sold out.
Derived from life drawing elements, this series of hand pulled prints are all unique, aprox 60cm x 80cm and unframed, available to be shipped anywhere in the world.
Sydney Contemporary
I’m excited to be showing for the first time at Sydney Contemporary on the 12th to the 15th of September 2019 at Carriageworks in Sydney.
I’ll be showing a selection of new silkscreen prints, persex sculptures and a small installation with Curatorial&Co Gallery, showing in the Futures section.

LOCALMILAN - Milan Design Week 19
For the fourth edition of LocalMilan curated by Emma Elizabeth in Milan Design Week, I collaborated on a textile art installation with artist and textile researcher, Joanna Fowles.
Utilising my linear graphic drawn artwork elements with Joannas extensive research and knowledge into locally sourced extracted botanical colourants, we created a series of art textiles with non polluting and non toxic dyes.
The organic Indian cotton, sourced from a country where both Kate and Joanna both have familial roots, is hand scoured and pressed, then hand silkscreen printed with extracted plant tannins from barks, fruit skins, naturally derived metal salts and fruit acids.
The process was done intuitively as the mordant which the dye adheres to is colourless.
The lengths are then dyed, dunged and finally washed to reveal their colours - an unexpected reveal.
The colour is alive - it evolves through time, light affectation and washing. It can be replenished, reinvigorated and recoloured.
Joanna’s research questions the contemporary applications of naturally dyed material and pushes to the return of naturally derived material and plants foraged from the local area. She utilises materials from plant and food matter to create colour into a print medium.
Kate’s artwork is a randomly repeated graphic element extracted from female form life drawing, which has gone through a transformation to a graphic lyrical and rhythmic line.
Elements overlap and fade; an interaction of bodies, relationships and nature.
The Social Outfit
I’m really honoured to have collaborated with The Social Outfit for their new Spring/Summer collection. The Social Outfit are set up as a registered charity whose purpose is to employ and train people from refugee and new migrant communities. This season the print collaborations are with young women from the new migrant and refugee communities in Liverpool, in partnership with @westernsydneymrc @_studio_a_artist #AnnetteGalstaun and myself.
Campaign photography styled by @petersimonphillips photographed by @levonbaird
They have just moved to beautiful new premises at 188 King Street, Newtown, Sydney.
The Social Outfit is a fashion label with a difference, they provide employment and training opportunities in the fashion industry to people from refugee and new migrant communities in clothing production, retail, and design.
They have created a social business model where people build skills in a supportive environment, whilst interacting with broader Sydney communities. Celebratory in design, they work together with industry and community collaborators, to produce ethical fashion products that reflect a hopeful Australian spirit.
Their work is accredited by Ethical Clothing Australia.

Semblance SHOW
19-28 OCTOBER 2018 | COMBER ST STUDIOS
I’m very happy to have new sculptural work in the group show of female artists curated by Sophie Vander of Curatorial and Co.
I’ve been developing a group of limited edition sculptural works in translucent and opaque acrylic and glue, playing with the interaction of colour, shape and light.
’Intersection’
The perspex sculptures reference my exploration and research into the engagement and overlap of colour. Reflections of thrown colour move with light throughout the day and adjust the perceived shapes of the pieces.
Opacity and translucency, rhythm and movement coexist with our interlocking and repeating relationships, joined, fragile and complimentary.

There is a human tendency, when chaos or uncertainty ensues, to create an approximation of reality, a façade, an air of order when the truth is quite different. Art then may act as a semblance of reality in order to deflect us from our own certainty. SEMBLANCE show is a collection of vibrant works that draw from the everyday, where varying artistic perspectives guide us into alternate realms, and where spaces, objects and nature take on alternate meaning. Curated by Sophie Vander of Curatorial+Co. SEMBLANCE brings together seven artists, working in a variety of medium, who take everyday forms and imagery, and turn them into objects of desire, thought and the unexpected.
Milan Design Week 2018
This year I'm pleased to be once again joining Local Design showing at Milan Design Week, curated by Emma Elizabeth.
My pieces are a site specific installation composed of repurposed perspex coated in dichroic film, based on a series of silkscreen prints that I created last year. These sit alongside a framed black and white wall hung silkscreen print on paper, the juxtoposition of my interests and work practices and how they overlap.
26 Australian designers and artists under one roof, all gratefull for the generous support of Brickworks BP, Avion Australia, Kvadrat textiles, Zenith Interiors, Max&You, SampleBrew.
Press preview is on the 16th of April at Via Cesare Correnti 14
Exhibition open from 16- 22nd of April
Berlei 100th birthday
Sitting on this for a year waiting for the launch has been no mean feat for me.
To celebrate the Berlei Bra centenary I joined forces with the design team to create a series of custom silkscreen prints to be interpreted onto the sports bras as worn by Serena Williams. Its not only been a huge honour to see my work worn by one of the greatest athletes of all time, but also to have worked with the Berlei team - thanks for the support and a happy happy Birthday!
Qantas
Over two years in the planning, Qantas have chosen a group of 16 artists to promote across business class cabins using the much loved amenity kits. I am very honoured to be amongst the artists chosen, especially as the project was formally launched just a week after I obtained my Australian citizenship. The project will launch on May the 1st 2017 with two kits launched every quarter over the coming two years.
Below is the launch video and my amenity kit.
Milan Design Week 2017
For the second year, I'm proud to be taking part of the LocalDesign group showing at Milan Design Fair 5 Vie, in the Antico Oratorio Della Passione, Piazza Sant'Ambrogio 15, 20123 Milan, Italy (Map below).
I have collaborated with designer Ryan McGoldrick to create a series of individual lit sculptures - handspun steel backs, anodised by F!NK with multi layered, laser cut and hand silkscreen printed artworks. Each is unique and available to commission.
The pieces were created with a mind to interlocking shapes, colour overlays and the interaction of opaque, clear and reflective surfaces with light.
Please contact Emma Elizabeth at LocalDesign for a press pack or VIP invite.

WEWORK
The ongoing personal collaborative project between Diego Berjon and myself has been picked up by TomMarkHenry for their project for WeWork, Sydney.
A commission of 15 new pieces of artwork to sit inside the beautifully renovated old warehouse building on 100 Harris Street, Pyrmont. All the artworks were started in Barcelona with Diego and his base layers of etching, acrylic paint or iron oxide and then sent on to me. From there I silkscreened and spray painted over as a visual response to Diegos' initial layers.
A few pieces are available from Diego or myself.

FOLONOMO GALLERY
I have work in a group show which is on until 21 August at Folonomo Gallery, Surry Hills Sydney. Showing work from Suzie Idiens, Toby Fitch, Millie Bartlett and myself and beautifully put together by the curator Ira Ferris.
Folonomo Gallery is a profit for purpose gallery attached to Folonomo restaurant and Gratia cafe, it donates 100% of its gallery fee to charity - in my case the Fred Hollows Foundation will benefit from any sales of my work.
